Management
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is responsible for employing the staff and the overall direction of Home-Start East Fife
Home-Start is an international organisation with over 300 schemes worldwide, each Home-Start scheme is run independently with their own Board of Trustees and Charitable Status and is responsible for securing its own funding. Every scheme signs an agreement with Home-Start UK which ensures that we abide by their Standards and Methods of Practice and follow the Home-Start ethos and Quality Assurance guidelines.
Our Board of Trustees is made up of home-visiting volunteers, local voluntary organisations and individuals who are simply interested in what Home-Start East Fife sets out to achieve.
The Board meets approximately every six weeks at our office, but members may also offer to join sub-groups set up to tackle various matters that arise, such as funding, training, policies, etc. Sub-groups meet as and when they are required.
Trustees have overall responsibility for the management of the scheme and employment of staff. They oversee the general running of the scheme whilst the Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations.
The Trustees are elected at our Annual General Meeting. The Chairperson can serve for up to three years. From time-to-time other Board members may be asked to chair sub-groups.
Our Governing Documents give us guidance as to who is entitled to serve on the Board, but we are essentially looking for people who have a bit of spare time each month and an interest in what we do. Naturally, some previous committee experience would be good, but it is not essential as someone will go over everything with new members and Trustee training is regularly organised by Home-Start UK.
Although Trustees would never, under normal circumstances, be privy to specific information on any of the families we work with, they do from time-to-time have contact with families and volunteers at social events such as parties, trips, etc, and confidentiality is still respected.
All out of pocket expenses incurred on behalf of Home-Start East Fife will be reimbursed, which would of course include travel to and from Board Meetings and training.
